Demolition Signs Legends Contract with WWE

The famous tag team may finally be one step closer to the Hall of Fame

On Friday it was reported that the tag team Demolition have signed Legends contracts with the WWE. This allows for WWE to use their likenesses for merchandise, video games, and WWE programming. The announcement was huge news for WWE fans, as the team has all but be forgotten by the company in recent years.

Demolition was one of the most dominant tag teams in WWE during the 1980s and 1990s. Ax and Smash (Bill Eadie and Barry Darsow) held the tag team championship on three occasions. They feuded with the top teams such as the Hart Foundation, the Rockers, and Powers of Pain. In the early 1990 they added Crush (Brian Adams) as the third member before the team disbanded in 1991.

They have the longest total combined days as champions. They also had the longest single reign, until the record was broken by the New Day in 2016 at 483 days. The reasoning for the record being broken, while the New Day deserved the accolade, was likely due to a grudge that Vince McMahon held against the team.

First, Bill Eadie tried to file a lawsuit for the name Demolition and the merchandising rights. He lost, and could not use the name “Ax” or “Demolition” during independent appearances. They later won…
