How To Find Brands for Your Twitch Sponsorships
As I’ve said in previous blog posts, there is no better time to get sponsored on Twitch than right now.
Most of you that are reading this are probably streamers. And there’s a good chance that you’re ready to get sponsored for your broadcast, which is awesome!
However, it’s not as easy as you might think.
There are a ton setbacks that you’re probably facing right now. Whether that be difficulty in reaching out to brands, troubles with interacting with key figures at a brand, or something similar. But wait…
“Slow your horses there Aaron. I haven’t even found a brand that I’d like to be sponsored by yet!”
Oh yeah. I forgot about that.
When you’re just starting to look for sponsorships on Twitch, one of the most confusing parts is figuring out who the hell you want to be sponsored by in the first place.
A lot of streamers take the easy way out and accept sponsorships from anyone and everyone. Well, I’m here to tell you that doing that will secure your one-way ticket to being called a sellout by your entire chat.
You don’t want that to happen.
So instead, let me show you how to find brands that you actually want to be sponsored by.
My favorite method of all (and the most classic) is…
The Brainstorm.
One of the best methods for finding potential sponsorships that are worth pursuing is by brainstorming different brands that you use in your everyday life.
I want you to take part in this exercise with me right now:
Look around you. Look on your desk, on your shelves, in your bathroom, in your kitchen, inside your toilet (nah I’m kidding), or anywhere else you go to on a daily basis.
As you look around, take note of some of the products that you use in your every day life.
What do you use as a microphone? As a webcam? As a monitor?
We can go even more micro. What toothpaste do you use? What cologne or deodorant?
As you continue to look around, start to rank the products you see from the most important in your life to the least important. Which products could you not live without? Which products did you pick up and never use again?

Once you have a list in your head of some of the most useful products you use on a day to day basis, the brainstorm is pretty much done. These are the brands that I suggest you go after.
Why? Because the products that you use the most will provide you the best and most comfortable promotion experience that you can possibly get.
Let me explain:
In my every day life, I use a few apps on my phone that help me save money (I won’t name any, just because I’m not getting paid).
Over the past few months, these apps have helped me save a ton of money. More than you’d expect. Therefore, they have a high level of importance and value in my day to day life.
Since this is the case, I am more than happy to recommend these products to my friends or people I know, because I can say confidently that the same value I received from the app can be achieved by anyone else as well.
In other words, I am confident in promoting their app, even though they don’t pay me a dime.
This same process can also work for services that you use, like I just explained.
Now, I’m sure some of you are wondering right about now:
“I tried to brainstorm a few products I use, but most of them just don’t make sense for a Twitch audience, or they’re too big of a company to bother with me. How can I find other brands?”
If this is you, don’t fret!
Despite my tangent on brainstorming products you already use, it is completely possible to foster trust in new brands that you come across on a day to day basis.
Before I tell you how you can grow your confidence in a brand you’ve never heard of before, let me show you how to actually find those brands.
My favorite method?
Twitter.
If your brainstorm didn’t prove to be effective before, I suggest going on Twitter to find brands that seem interesting.
To use Twitter to find brands, there are only a few simple steps to follow:
- Refer back to the brainstorming phase.
I’m sure most of you were able to think of at least 2–3 brands that you’d love to get sponsored by from your brainstorm. Except in this case, you don’t think it’s wise to go after some of them. Mark these brands on a notepad on your computer. I recommend getting a list of at least 5 brands you love, but if you can’t think of many, there’s a good chance that you can still work with 1 or 2.
2. After you’ve got your list together, head to the Twitter.
Once you’re there, search for a brand’s name in the top right hand corner. In my example, I’m going to go with DUUL, a popular e-sports website.

If you can’t find their Twitter, try looking on their website. There’s a good chance that they have it there where anyone can find it.
3. Click on the brand’s “Following” list.
Once you’re on the brand’s Twitter page, head to their “Following” list.
There’s a good chance that the brand you’ve searched is also following other relevant brands in the space. This is the list where you find those brands.
Now, your job is to scroll through this “Following” list and find brands that you find interesting.
For instance, on DUUL’s Twitter page, we can see that they’re following BITKRAFT Esports and ZOWIE, two of my favorite e-sports brands in the space right now. This can be a great way to find brands that you forgot about over the years, or to find brands you’ve never heard of that sound interesting.

But don’t get too hasty! This phase is only for brand discovery. The most you need to do for now is write down the names of companies that interest you. I’ll let you know what to do with those here in a minute.
If you’re still having some trouble finding brands that sound interesting to you or that you’d like to get sponsored by, there are a few more options that you can try. One being Product Hunt.

Product Hunt.
Product hunt can be one of the best ways to find companies who are just starting up and looking to grow their businesses with Twitch streamers.
Before I got further, let me explain what Product Hunt is for those who don’t know:
Product Hunt is the go-to place for brand owners to debut their new products or services.
Every day, product hunt will feature a new product or service that someone in the space has created on their front page and social media accounts.
There are only a set number of products that are posted a day, and you can see all of them by searching on the front page.

So here is your task for the day:
Head to Product Hunt, and scroll through their front page of products. Take a look at some of the newer companies and see which ones strike a cord with you or sound really interesting.
Then, write the names of every company down in a notepad and save it for later.
If you’re having trouble finding companies that you feel are relevant to your audience, feel free to use the search function on the site. You can search gaming, cooking, travel, or anything in between. Chances are, there is a product that can fit well in your stream.
Now, once you have a good list of 15–20 brands that you’ve found an interest in, it’s time to find out whether or not they will be a good fit to sponsor you.
“What’s the best way to do this?”
It’s simple: pick up and try what the company is offering.
Does the company provide a sweet web application to help you make music in your browser? Create some beats and see how easy it is. Does the company produce clothing? Pick up a cheap t-shirt and see if you like the quality. Do they have an app that tracks your workout progress? Use the app for a week to see how much it helps you.
Once you’ve tested and used the products that you were interested in, you’ll have a good idea of the quality and value of the products themselves.
Now, to figure out whether a brand is a good fit for you, ask yourself these questions:
- Would I feel comfortable passing this product along to someone else?
- Was I happy with the product or service I tried?
- Did it help me in a noticeable way or provide value to my life?
If the answer to any of those questions is yes, you’re ready to reach out to the company. (By the way, if you’re looking to know how to send a great proposal, you can read more on that here).
So now that you know how to filter out brands you like and don’t like, let’s learn about some more ways that you can find new brands, shall we?
Use a service like PowerSpike to get in contact with new brands.
If you’ve never heard of PowerSpike before, let me give you a brief rundown:
PowerSpike is a Twitch.tv sponsorship marketplace. That means that streamers like yourself can sign up and scout for brands you’re interested in, as well as get in contact with them all through the platform. The entire sponsorship process can be completed from inside the site.
You know that process I talked about for finding brands you haven’t heard of? PowerSpike is perhaps the best place to put that into action.
To search for brands on PowerSpike, head to the marketplace page on the site to view all of the brands who have posted campaigns. Here, you’ll be able to get a brief rundown of every company and what they do.
You can then check out their website to try out whatever they’re offering. If you like it, feel free to send them a proposal over the platform!
If they want to move forward with you, they’ll accept your proposal and you can get sponsored then and there.
But this post isn’t about the ins-and-outs of getting sponsored, so let’s focus on some more ways to find brands you’d like to be sponsored by.
Ask your friends.
If you’re a gamer like most of us, there’s a good chance that you have a ton of friends in the space.
One of the best ways that you can get product recommendations is to ask someone you know who is a part of the community!
You know that part about how most people are inclined to pass along products they enjoy? This applies here more than ever.
So here’s another task for you to do:
Go around and ask some of your friends online or in person about some of their favorite products they’ve been using recently. Bring a notepad with you so you can write them all down.
The reason that this is such a great method is because when you ask your friends, you’re getting an opinion from someone who has already used a product or service and it has helped them.
If it’s helped them enough for them to refer it to you, there’s a good chance that you’re going to like it to.
Once you get a good list, repeat the same process as before to check out all of the companies.
And that’s it for now!
I hope that this post shed some light on how to find brands to get sponsored by.
If there is one thing from this post that I hope you take away, it’s this:
Don’t just accept any and all sponsorships from any and all brands you come across.
A lot of people who are just looking to get sponsored are worried about whether or not sponsorships mean that they are selling out.
If you’re curious, accepting money from anyone and everyone for promotion is the definition of selling out.
That’s why it’s so important to research and test every brand’s product or service before you decide whether or not you would like to be sponsored by them.
Not only will this process make you more confident when relaying the brand’s message to your viewers, but it will also make you a lot more comfortable when promoting them since you have the security in knowing it’s actually a worthwhile product.
