Introducing Powow!

We are pleased to announce that after past several weeks of development and testing, Powow is available as public beta release.
What is Powow?
It is a mobile app to connect with our local community around us.
In contrast to previous generations which lived, worked and enjoyed at fixed locations current generation is mobile, dynamic and globally minded. But, moving is still too hard. Every time you move to a new location, you have to go through the same procedure for connecting to people in the vicinity. You get on Facebook, Twitter, Meetup etc to look up groups in the area, followed by hours of browsing to find people might be around to pursue a common interest only to settle down eventually for something less than optimal.
Not any more! Powow allows you to immediately discover people, events and activities happening in your locality by simply getting on the app.
How does it work?
Powow is a your geo-location based community with no central organizer. You decide how wide or narrow your comfort radius for community is and you are implicitly part of it. It monitors change in your GPS location and based on your setting you receiving what people are sharing around.
Why should I use it instead of X?
Although, a wide variety of use cases are solved by existing applications, we still think connecting people who are nearest, is still the hardest.
These are some of the examples how people are making use of Powow:
- You are at a gathering and want to share something with people there without asking everyone to jump hoops of asking emails, creating groups or any other thing.
- You just met someone and want to connect with them for future purposes but, don’t want to go through collecting and giving those antique dreaded visiting cards in 21st century.
- You want to organize an event in your society or hostel, and want to connect with interested people and plan further action plan.
We believe this is another step in making world more real, open and connected and look forward to how you make it yours.
