Fundamental analysis is how you pick your winners.

In a market that’s driven by hype, mania, and a tasty dollop of FOMO, unicorns are commonplace and the only thing mystical about them is their legs. Uber, Lyft, Lime, WeWork, and Peloton all continue to lose money.

Obviously, some hype-driven stocks are a really good buy and the day trader in all of us wants to chase the 100x gains, but if you are more interested in a sensible long term investment and don’t approach investments like a day at the dogs, you’d better, focus on fundamentals.

The Key to Fundamental Analysis

Data…Data…Oh and Data!!!

8 Free Tools For Fundamental Analysis

1 Simply Wall Street

Simply Wall Street is an absolute gem. I expect claps since I found it for you. Simply Wall Street is an open-source project that’s completely free. Its goal is to help you make better decisions as an investor by taking all the complicated ratios and formulas and simplifying them as easy to digest infographics. In seconds you can find the payout for dividends or track the historical performance of any asset. It’s bloody impressive and that’s why it’s at the top of the list.

2 Powrbot

As long as you don’t exceed 200 searches in a month, Powrbot is a completely free data aggregation tool that can quickly gather financial information on a whole range of companies.

The software works with csv or spreadsheet file format and can automate searches for company revenue, operating expenses, products, subsidiaries, key faculty members, and more.

3 TradingView

TradingView offers free charts for thousands of assets with indicators included. It’s the go-to site for staring at charts. Yes, I know that’s technical analysis, not financial analysis, but charts are a very worthwhile tool.

3 StockPup

StockPup is a Warren Buffet inspired tool that focuses on fundamentals and provides an in-depth look at the historical performance of companies and shares over time.

5 Twitter

Accept that there are thousands of professionals out there who have forgotten more about fundamental analysis than you will ever know. Twitter is one of the best ways to find them, and since they are trying to grow their followers, they will often give away little gems of info, leads you can follow and more, all for free.

Take a look at this list of worthwhile people to follow on Twitter.

6 Crunchbase

Startups are difficult to find accurate information on, and that’s why Crunchbase is such a gem. It has all kinds of info about funding, teams, and more.

7 Finviz

Finviz is a stock screener, news compiler, heat map provider and more. It’s arguably a better tool for short term decisions than long term investments, but it’s an effective tool for gauging sentiment, guessing at correlations between stocks, and setting up notification for big new events that could affect the price.

8 FundSeeder

Another very cool and completely free tool for fundamental and technical analysis is FundSeeder. Trade statistics, monetization, and account management take the effort and maths out of trading and managing a portfolio. A really trick bit of kit. Highly recommended.

That’s it for this post.

I hope all these tools will help inform your investment decisions. The best part is that they are all completely free.

I have a favour to ask. It takes days of research to find quality tools for investors. Tools like FundSeeder and Simply Wall Street, aren’t common knowledge, and I really had to dig deep to find these gems.

If you found this information valuable, please reciprocate by clapping for this post.
