Do you feel like stress and anxiety are always chasing you? Swallowing you up? What about your energy levels? Are you tired of feeling burned out? Lethargic? What about that sense of fatigue that you can’t seem to outrun?

All of these can be signs of a nervous system that is overwhelmed. It’s common in survivors of relationship trauma and childhood abuse or neglect. Constantly on the defensive, your nervous system gets stuck in an “on” or an “off” position that makes it hard for you to function, build stable relationships, or make healthy behavioral choices for yourself.

People with overstimulated nervous systems can find themselves battling:

  • Chronic stress, anxiety, depression
  • Serious diet and digestive issues
  • Lowered immune function
  • Memory loss and poor cognition

Repairing the nervous system in the wake of trauma is key. Without that step in our self-care and recovery process, we can’t really conquer the heavy emotional states that we’re battling or the fatiuge that we’re in. To bring our systems back into a helathy balance, we have to have a focused and intentional approach to creating awareness and creating softer environments for yourself.

That’s where the concept of radical self-care comes in.
