The daily lies I encounter about trauma recovery make me sick. There are so many delusional and totally detached people out there making a mess of the healing journey for everyone. They promise their clients magic results, and set them up for major failure down the road. We’d all be a lot better off if we admitted the truth to ourselves and the world. Healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey. In fact, for some people, it is one that never ends.

The 5 biggest lies you’ve been told about recovery.

Instead of settling for the lies, we’re going to put ourselves on a more authentic path to healing by accepting the 5 core truths of recovering from narcissistic abuse or childhood trauma. These memories are stored in the body, and there’s no magic solution or time limit to resolving them. Don’t set yourself up for failure. The pain may always be there and (for some) it may be a journey that never ends.

Lack of emotion means it’s over
