What Is Group Coaching? Could It Be the Right Fit For You?
Looking at the group coaching trend and what it means for those on a recovery journey.
It is no secret that we are in the middle of a mental health crisis. Despite the fact that 1 in 5 Americans will experience a mental illness over the next year, only about 12.1% of those individuals will receive the care that they need. There aren’t enough hands on board. Mental health professionals are dwindling as the need for their services increases.
This has led to a rise in alternative treatment sources, specifically in the coaching spaces. Life coaches, relationship coaches, mental health coaches, and trauma coaches. New options pop up every day, and group coaching has become a part of these growing options.
What is group coaching? Does it really help its members heal? Is it a viable alternative to treatment?
While nothing will ever replace the value of a trauma-informed therapist (or treatment plan developed by a mental health professional) there are a lot of benefits that group coaching can offer. There’s something to be said for the community it creates, and it is certainly an action-focused resource that can push us to make real improvements in the lives of group members.
