Have you ever been lied to by a narcissistic person? For those who get trapped in cycles of narcissistic abuse, lies can feel like a part of the norm. Narcissistic people will lie about anything and everything, making it hard to know where you stand with them or if you should believe them at all.

Now consider the pathological liar — a person who lies so frequently that it becomes a part of their identity.

What happens when the narcissistic person in our lives is a pathological liar? Is every narcissist a pathological liar? If so, what can we do to protect ourselves from the damaging consequences of their ego-affirming lies? The answers aren’t easy to come by, but we can reach them with patience, compassion, and a little commitment to our own happiness.
