I turned 30 this year.

It’s been a wild ride over the last 10 years, graduating from university, working my first graduate job, buying my first house, and starting my first successful business.

Here are the things I wish somebody had told me at 20 that I now know at 30.

1. Leverage, don’t imitate

Advice is everywhere. Look close enough and you’ll find most is contradicting. Some people tell you to do a thing, other people tell you to steer clear.

So what do you do?

You find the advice that feels relevant and valuable to you.

But don’t just copy and paste it into your life. If you’re struggling with confidence, and you’ve read a piece about ‘faking it til you make it’ don’t start doing that tomorrow.

Ask how you can leverage that idea but make sure it’s still true to you and what you believe.

2. Letting reading become a meditation

I’m not big into meditation.

I can’t sit for thirty minutes thinking about my breathing — every time I try I fall asleep. For me, eyes…
