Writing has always been magical to me. Through words, I can take what’s in my head and put it onto paper. I can make the invisible visible.

Those words can travel across time and borders and be read by complete strangers.

I’m still reading Rumi’s beautiful poetry some 500 years after he wrote it.

That’s because words don’t age. They’re like a good wine in that way. They mature over time and leave a lasting imprint on humanity.

It’s audacious to believe that I am now one of those writers who can become immortal. My words have the same potential as Rumi’s. However, I’m not claiming that my words are the magic ingredient but more that words themselves are.

James Clear recently captured this sentiment beautifully.

“Writing is the superpower of humankind. It is our truest form of magic.

Writing allows you to conjure up something of value where nothing previously existed. It costs little for you to write down the lessons of your life and yet those few minutes spent writing can be life-altering for the right reader. As I once saw it put: “There is someone out there with a wound in the exact shape of your words.”
