Confidence is not built by thinking. It is cultivated by being. You must behave your way into a more confident version of yourself.

There is an old advertisement that demonstrates this clearly. One day, a young man was at the beach with his girlfriend.

But then a bully who is bigger, stronger, and more assertive walks by and kicks sand in both of their faces. It keeps going. The bully picks up the young man by the arms, lifts him up, and says, “I’d knock your head off right here, but you’re so scrawny that I might completely destroy you.” The bully leaves.

The girlfriend tries to comfort the young man by telling him, “Don’t let it bother you; he’s just a big bully.”

The young man goes home and contemplates what happens. He’s been humiliated and felt powerless. His confidence was shot. But he wants to improve the situation, so he puts together a plan of action and begins training the Altas program.

Months later, he returns to the beach with the same girlfriend, and the bully walks by again. But this time, the young man stands up, squares up, and delivers a blow to the bully's jaw, which sends him off running.
