MrBeast once said, “I’d rather spend 100 hours on a single video and make it the best it can be than spend 10 hours on a video that is just okay.

Many took this as an opinion.

But it’s actually the secret to astronomical results with your content.

Take my article Don’t Just Set Goals Build Systems as an example.

Since publishing it, it’s earned me:

  • 715% more in earnings than my second-highest-earning story
  • 81% more views than second most viewed story
  • 77% more reads than my second-most-viewed story

Basically, it’s done most of the leg work for everything I’ve achieved on Medium.

And it’s also the reason I’m consistently in the top 6% of partner program earners each month.

This experience taught me one major lesson about content creation:

It pays more to put tons of time and effort into one piece of content than minor effort into multiple.

Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan demonstrate why this is, in their book, 10x is easier than 2x.
