I was raised on the myth of “black and white” stripes in life.

First comes a white stripe…

Then a black one…

Then white again, and so on.

Spilled coffee in the morning?
Expect trouble by lunch.

Who seeks shall find.

And what about the evening?
The black stripe hasn’t ended yet…

It’s the perfect time to unwittingly bring your bad mood home.

And so, the day is ruined.

Sound familiar?

The paradox…

Good moments are always fleeting.

They can’t pull you to the pinnacle of triumph.

You have to fight for them and put in effort.

Not quite the same with the bad ones, right?

Just do nothing…
Easy and simple.

They will drag you to the very bottom — you won’t even have time to look back.

You always need to catch your breath from them, take a moment…

Life picks up pace.

You run faster, encountering events more often.
Including the bad ones.

Out of habit, you start repeating:
“I’ll catch my breath soon…”
“Just a little more, and things will get better, then I’ll start living.”

That “then” will never come.

This approach is doomed to fail.

The main skill I had to learn:

Recover faster.

Not just not show or mask my bad mood,

But really, stop feeling it.

Okay, I’m being deceitful…It’s impossible.

You will still feel it, you will still suffer.

The only question is…

How long will you allow this feeling to control your life?

Moving up to the major league,

Living on settings close to maximum…

Life will simply throw you overboard if you’re not ready.

It happens in the most insidious way.

From the inside.

Eating you away with depression.

Others will say everything is fine with you.

You have a family, a job, money.

But you’re unhappy. You can’t take the next step.

The solution?

As always, it’s to change yourself.

How?

Stop seeing “stripes”.

Life isn’t made of black and white stripes.

It’s made of events.

Each event lasts a second.

Only you allow 1 second to poison the remaining 86399.
