How to Make Your Day Better in 2 Minutes for Smart People

There is a small but subtle thought that has been burrowing in my mind as of late. I find myself asking this question most days.

It’s a brilliantly simple question:

What ‘things’ make my day better?

What a simple, subtle, unthreatening question.

For me, I’ve found that, on balance, walking in the morning sets me up for a better day. An early morning writing sets me up for a better day. Having a to-do list that is reasonably full to-do list does the same.

Here are 4 more that, for me, make a day much better.

1. Changing environment when my mood sours

I learned of a garden recently that featured a little avenue called ‘huff lane’. Hilariously, this is a path, lined by hedges on either side, with a few benches dotted around.

The idea was that if you were in a ‘huff’ or, in other words, in a bad mood, you would walk down the little stretch of grass and walk it off.

I think that is a rather magical idea and whilst we perhaps all don't have the luxury of creating our own ‘huff lane’ in our gardens, what we might benefit from is, when soured, get up, get out and do…
