I Hit 200K on LinkedIn

Here are seven learnings.

Last month, I woke up to crossing 200K followers. So I’m going to throw some reality bombs (because I can 😎):

  1. More followers doesn’t mean more money. My products sell to a few people because of my niche, so a growing following doesn’t mean more sales.​
  2. Zero to 50K is a fun playground. After that, it’s a lot of responsibility that I’ve taken on my shoulders. This is so I don’t misguide anyone and retain the energy of making readers feel whole instead of ‘less’ as social media makes them feel anyway.​
  3. Yeah it’s been pretty amusing when someone recognises me in real life. The first thing I ask them is, “Do you like my work or is it cringe?” I’m still a bit weird about this LinkedIn thing lol.
  4. I’m not sure why brands pay 2x to agencies for sponsorships because agencies will pay us half, or less. Not to mention they make us chase them for months to get paid. It’s the reason I’ve started leaving money on the table for the sake of my mental peace and ethics.​
  5. As long as you stay true to your inner self and serve your audience, most people will like you. Some men would troll you, but that just shows how they feel about a successful woman (read: insecure).​
