Ikigai: Find Your Reason for Being

I want to introduce you to two people.

Person #1: This person sets the alarm for 5:30, hits the snooze button until 6:10, and then flies around the house to get ready so that they are out of the house and on the way to work by 7:10.

Person #2: This person sets the alarm for 4:30 and gets up immediately. They do yoga, write morning pages, complete a guided meditation, do a bible study, eat breakfast, get ready, and are out the door at 7:00 to head to work.

Which person would you be in this scenario?

I used to be Person #1 and now I’m Person #2.

What changed?

I got tired of staying in bed until the very last minute with just enough time to get ready for my teaching job. I got tired of being on autopilot and doing for others without filling my own cup first. I got tired of surviving instead of thriving.

I was going through the motions of life instead of truly living it.

What helped me was learning about ikigai and how it could transcend the way that I live today.
