A little personal history with PARA.

When I began building my own Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) system, my initial source of influence was Tiago Forte’s blog and his idea of building a “Second Brain”. The first version of my PKM was created using the PARA method back in March 2021, within Notion.

This article is for people who are interested in learning “What is PARA?” or veterans of the method, who wish to learn from my experience of using the methodology for nearly three years now and how to fix some of its more glaring issues.

What is PARA?

PARA which stands for Projects, Areas, Resources, and Archives, is a method of folder organisation, which is focused on actionability. It is a simple, comprehensive and flexible way of structuring any type of digital information across platforms. PARA is the spiritual successor to the GTD Method, with a focus on making knowledge more actionable.
