Journaling is a well-established and recommended self-development practice in therapy and psychology, and it works as well for children as it does for adults.

Journaling can be composed of drawing or sketching, pure writing, combining electronic keystrokes to create entries, a voice recording, song, or symphony, or a collage/combination of whatever feels right for you, your time, expertise, and the materials you have at hand.

The ‘fear of the blank page’ stops a lot of people from journaling — they feel as if they must have the ‘perfect’ journal entry, a brilliant series of successes to write about or “report” on, and that the regular events of their lives aren’t worth the ink on the paper.

That’s absolutely NOT TRUE.

The events of your life, the emotions you feel, and the people you meet, work with, and talk to are all worth writing about. Exploring your mindset and emotions adds to your level of self-knowledge, and that’s always worth your time and effort.
