I am so tired I can’t explain it.

My eyelids keep trying to persuade me to let them drop. The hot coffee next to me isn’t working. My legs ache, my mind is barely here, my dogs are snoozing next to me.

All road lead to going back to bed. It’s cosy and warm. It’s peaceful. It’s wonderful.

It’s totally darkness where I sit. Apart from the quiet light of the heater that sits next to me. Almost total darkness. Almost total silence. It’s 5:56am. I’m tired but I’m here.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows

There is no doubt that writing on the internet, consistently, is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. To maintain focus, discipline and a love for writing over the years has been a slog.

There is this idea that discipline is a one-time thing, that you must conquer it once in order to succeed.

If you can just spend 50 minutes writing out your perfect morning routine, then from then on, life will be a conveyor belt of activities that improve your life and make you rich.

It won’t — that couldn’t be further from the truth.
