What is discipline? Discipline is setting yourself a set of rules and standards you should aim to achieve. You see many people choose discipline over motivation because motivation does not last forever, but discipline helps that journey continue.

Discipline involves self-control and gives you the ability to prioritize long-term goals over short-term desires.

How do we use discipline?

Many people use discipline to avoid negatives like regret for example.

Regret is one of the worst pains anybody can experience because it sticks with you forever. Nobody wants to start something and then quit it not knowing they will regret it in a few years’ time. Discipline helps you overcome the fear of stopping and keep you focused on what you must achieve.

Motivation

Often, people feel motivated to achieve a certain goal, but they may not have a clear plan or understanding of how to achieve it. This lack of clarity can cause your motivation to decrease, as people feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to proceed. You can feel motivated and driven to reach somewhere but if you don’t know how you won’t get there. Plan is the most important part of achieving your goals.

Not getting to where you expected to be in a certain amount of time can cause the majority of people to quit not knowing the result could come at any time.

It’s important to have patience and trust in the process. Nothing will be easy, there are millions of other people working to achieve the same goal as you, and most of them would quit because they think it’s a waste of time or it won’t work out for them. Anything can work out for you, but that depends on how much effort you’re willing to put in to remain consistent and achieve your desires.

How do I overcome this?

To overcome these challenges, it’s important to set clear, realistic goals and develop a plan for achieving them, It’s really crucial that you know what you’re doing and how you’re going to get there.

It’s also important to minimize distractions, focus on progress and accomplishments, and practice positive self-talk to boost your confidence. Because if you keep thinking to yourself “I’m never going to get there” or “It’s not possible” this can quickly decrease your motivation and your drive to achieve whatever you’re goal is.

How do I become disciplined?

So now let’s move back to discipline. What does discipline actually require?

Discipline requires commitment, consistency, and persistence, as well as a willingness to learn from mistakes and build from them.

It can be challenging, but the benefits of discipline can include a stronger mindset, and a step closer to you’re goals. That’s the pros of discipline, but the cons are obviously regret, and all the time you wasted.

So ladies and gentlemen, please just focus on a goal you can see yourself doing for a long time and a goal you will ACTUALLY enjoy doing.
