Why I Hired An Indian Editor For My Second Non-Fiction Book
#2. They were relatable
Most Indians do not have English as their first language.
Yet, I hired one for my book.
To be honest, I never planned it that way.
In April 2023, I decided to write a second book, “The Migrants Career Guide.” I wanted this book to help new migrants achieve their career goals and succeed in their careers in a new land. Australia, like Canada, the USA, and some parts of Europe, is attractive to migrants, so I wanted to write this book to help at least one person.
I occasionally get questions about career advice, so I thought putting this book out there might as well answer most of the questions I routinely answer.
After I had written the initial draft, I didn’t want to return to the first editor who had edited my first book. I wanted to test the waters to see what other editors could offer. I wanted a different editing perspective.
Eventually, I posted an ad on Upwork and hired an Indian editor.
Here are my reasons and thought process.
They Stood Out Amongst The Crowd
The editor went over and beyond in their Upwork proposal.
