Most writers have the staying power of a free gym membership in January.

They start strong, full of energy. But give it a few months, and they’ve disappeared. I began 24 months ago. Almost everyone who started with me has quit.

This tells you two things:

  1. If you stick around, you’ll rise to the top 5%.
  2. Sticking around is harder than you think.

The best writers don’t just power through, gritting their teeth and hoping for the best. They understand why people quit. They know growth happens in three emotional stages. But if you don’t see them coming. They’ll wipe you out.

I’ve been there. Feeling invisible. Wondering if I was wasting my time. But once I understood this 3 part process I knew how to keep going. Now 24,000 people follow my words. But it wasn’t always this way.
