You Don’t Need to Reinvent Yourself or Change Your Life
And other life advice

I’m fairly sure the weather wreaks havoc with my emotions.
Not that I ever clock on. Of course, mid-emotion, I tally it down to a mid-life crisis and determine that I need a life overhaul to get back on track. A few days (or if it’s bad, weeks) of fulfillment and I’m on the road to a life rewrite.
I concluded I needed a new job, house, and life balance, and I definitely needed to meditate. I spend that time in desperation. Searching for the answer.
I’ll write, journal, trying to work out what it all means, but the truth? I probably just need to come back tomorrow after a good night’s sleep.
Most of the time, things aren’t that bad
It’s been a revelation in my life that most of the time, life isn’t half as bad (or even 1% as bad) as I think. Rather, I just need a change of perspective and a new attitude.
Honestly? Probably what I need to do is just do a few things that help me feel like I’ve got my life in order.
My life hasn’t ever really been a total disaster. It’s felt like it on multiple occasions but what feels like a car crash of a situation usually is just a mild inconvenience or something that needs a bit of fresh thinking.
And let’s be honest, if you’re anything like me, life rarely feels together. Rather, the best you can hope for is a few strings tied together, holding everything else up.
And that’s okay, because this illusion that you’ll ever feel totally on top of life, is just that, an illusion. But there are some things you can do to regain control.
On doing the basics
I can count on a few things to turn around my mood.
None of them involve big changes, most of them are tiny things, things that barely even get a mention yet they are the unsung heroes of my life. I go to them time and time again and yet they never ever let me down.
Here are a few:
- Doing the dishes
- Mowing the lawn
- Walking my dogs
- Doing the laundry
