Brains Studying Brains

Sometimes I think about the fact that humans put so much time into figuring out how we ourselves work, and it seems really absurd to me. Like, we have people who spend their entire lives and dedicating every ounce of their intelligence towards trying to figure out how they are able to dedicate their intelligence towards figuring things out. Doesn’t that seem kind of crazy and ironic to you?

What’s even crazier is that we haven’t figured it out. In fact, we’re not even close. The most powerful computers we have been able to build still do not even match the raw processing power of the dumbest human being’s brain. Hundreds of years of brains’ work have gone towards trying to make a single copy of a brain and were not even close. That blows my mind.

And then on top of that we make movies and books and all sorts of stories about the future where we are going to finally build a brain, then it will gain consciousness and turn evil and wipe everyone out.

People are crazy.
