At the start of the book, we jumped right into building a simple application. This let us get comfortable with the development environment and provided a glimpse of what to expect in terms of project structure. We looked at the directory layout as well as at the purpose of some of the files found in the project. But we didn’t focus very closely on the code in these files. In this chapter, you’ll learn the background necessary to fully understand our guestbook application.
