F2 Strategy and Girls Who Code are teaming up to help bridge the gap for women in tech. This is an interesting intersection, as F2 has a good reputation for advising firms in the wealth management space around their technology needs. For those women who want to bring their coding skills to the financial technology (fintech) marketplace, the partnership should prove to be a good resource.

For those women looking for fintech problems to solve, the industry is rapidly consolidating, with mergers and acquisitions happening by the week. Firms like F2 are busy helping management teams understand the effects and value propositions of merging systems. Often, these technology considerations can make or break a deal. People with software architecture, programming, and data science experience can add tremendous value to the space on both the technical and the management consulting side of the arena.

Wealth management is desperately underrepresented by women as a whole. Barron’s estimates that 20 percent of financial advisers are women and the CFP Board estimates that 23 percent of certified financial planners are women. Make no mistake, there are plenty of wealth firms that have only a glancing idea of the implications of the decisions they make around software, structure and the rest of the tech stack. It’s an interesting space to watch and a unique opportunity for women who code.
