This is not Negligence

I got a lot of feedback on my previous article on technical debt and negligence. It seems that calling people negligent stirs up quite some…strong feelings. ¶ I want to clear up some misunderstandings. ¶ The original idea of the article was to point out people who use technical debt as an excuse to write shitty code. Those who are careless when they know they should be careful. That’s negligence. ¶ Most people are not like that. ¶ Most people who write shitty code do so accidentally. They don’t realise that it’s bad. They may honestly think it’s the right choice.

We went to WeCamp '15

As soon as we heard there was going to be a WeCamp 2015, we were on board as sponsors. When ticket sales started, we were the first to buy…tickets. There was no way we were not going to be a part of this. ¶ WeCamp advertises itself as a 5 day coding retreat where you learn to improve both your technical and your soft skills. Attendees are divided into random teams, designated a coach, and then set out to build a product of their choice. ¶ It is, however, much, much more than that. ¶ Developing the product is just a means to an end.
