The Challenge

Study users across the travel ecosystem to create a comprehensive understanding of what creates value for them at every Trivago touchpoint, and use this to guide our collective efforts toward a healthy, user value-driven evolution of our product.

UX Research Roadmap

Scenario

Trivago is convinced that one of its current features is a core tool for our users that isn’t supporting user needs as well as it could, so we would like evolve, or redesign, the feature. You have been assigned to the project as the lead researcher.

Task 1 — Mixed Methods Research

The goal of this task is to reconceptualize the map to create the most measurable value for Trivago users. You are responsible for designing a user research roadmap which:

  1. Maximizes the confidence, reliability, and validity of your research results.
  2. Minimizes the time required to obtain them.

Bonus Task — Quantitative Analysis

In the file named “Data_Set.csv” (see Resources section below) you will find 10,000 sessions of historical data for several map interaction types. In the file named “Data_Introduction.pdf”, you will find an introduction to the data set. Your goal is to analyze the data to support your research roadmap or draw some interesting conclusions from your data analysis for further investigation.
