Anyone can get lucky with one or two successful blog/social media posts, but it takes real talent and awareness to continue and improve upon that success at a consistent rate.

Here are a few things we’ve learned in our experience with Prajix over the past year of content creation. We hope these tips help increase viewership on your personal/business channels.

Create content specific to each channel

What works on Facebook might not be a great fit for Twitter (for myriad reasons). Facebook is family-friendly; it’s mainly used by older generations, so your message/approach might not work well if you’re using the same content you use for Instagram or Twitter, which are more popular with younger people. Think of it this way: Treat your professional content similar to the way you would post your personal photos/thought snippets. Facebook is what your grandmother will see, while Twitter is a bit more laid back (but also a dumpster fire at the moment), and Instagram/TikTok is where you can relax and communicate casually with like-minded young people.

Show your product/service in use on Instagram stories

There’s no better way to build trust with potential customers than by giving them live demonstrations of your product/service to prove how beneficial it can be for regular people. Also, “how to” videos are effectively eye-catching, especially in the world of software development. Coding tutorials for unique features, effects, etc. are useful in convincing coders to watch your content. We can tell you from personal experience (and we’re sure that you can relate) that when we see certain coding tutorials on social media concerning areas outside of our expertise, we become tempted to watch them prove to us that we are capable of carrying out such tasks. Leading to our next point…

Provide useful information

Social media today feels like thousands of random voices screaming at you from the walls, and people are realizing that they should cut back. If you want people to notice your content while they’re mindlessly scrolling through their feeds, make sure you are providing them with beneficial information that can teach them new skills, advance their careers, or make them money.

Don’t just know your audience; become your audience

This part sounds obvious, but it’s more complicated than you might think. It’s not enough to just know your general audience (in our case, it’s software programmers), you must gather all the information available on the people who frequent your web pages. How old are they? What is their education level? Where are they from? Are they mostly male or female? Which days of the week do they most often visit your sites and at what time of day? You can begin to answer these questions with some basic marketing analytics tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or any online marketing tool that allows you to look at user engagement (Ex: Mailchimp for email marketing).

Loyalty Incentives

Try to find unique and creative ways to reward customers who keep returning to your business. You can offer discounts, special offers, free merchandise, etc. Anything to persuade people to keep using more of your product/service with the hopes of gaining something of value in return.

Read comments

It can be cumbersome to go through all the comments on every post, but doing so is crucial to understand your audience. If someone scrolling through their social media feed reads your post and feels that it is so imperative to share their ideas that they must leave a comment, then that is a gift to your marketing department. Even if the comment is negative criticism it still gives you the chance to spot the cracks in your content strategy so you can create more accurate and meaningful posts in the future.

Share user-generated content

One way to show your users how much their business means to your company is to repost their personal content. Let them know that you care about their lives and careers by uploading content found on their pages that is relevant to your service. Don’t forget to tag them so they can see your appreciation posts!
