Abolakara stories are traditional stories from Odisha. Known after their petulant character, they have been part of oral storytelling since centuries. Lively with idioms, couplets and humour — these stories were a testimony to the craft of storytelling in Odia. With less and less kids of the newer generation getting a chance to come across these stories, these stories are slowly fading away.

This project was created to make traditional children’s literature in Odia available to everyone.

The stories have been translated into English by Prateek Pattanaik.

It was conceptualised and created by Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik.
