War & Transcendence

Reality is the result of mass and its gravitational forces. Matter coagulates around centers of interest. The driving forces of life and death may be wealth, safety, power, curiosity, or dreams of things no one has heard of, seen or felt. As sentient beings our perception of reality is the result of our understanding as our mind reflects on the subject matter …

The mind can be reflected fully, showing us nothing but what we expect to find, it can be broken, split into separate views and trains of processing, or it can be absorbed without giving any feedback to the observer. The more agile and flexible the mind, the richer and more varied its perceptions. For the dreamer it was not so much a matter of being right but of feeding his curiosity. Anything to get him out of the rut of routines and ready-made assumptions. He would rather be entertained by psyched out conspiracy theories than eat the redundant drivel of mainstream media …

As for Pravda, her name being the Russian word for ‘truth’, she had no idea what to make of herself. All she had learned from encounters with sentient beings was that they did feel inclined to deal with her in a kind and graceful manner. Whatever they may have seen in her, it did not chime with her own perception of herself. Encounters resulted in ugly disharmony from crunching to crashing and shattering. What a blast. Only bad news is good news. Shock treatment as craptainment for the dulled minds of cattle and sheep on the drip of sanitation and TV …

A closed system that does not allow for new impulses from foreign sources is bound to deteriorate from its own velocity. With no counter forces to balance its momentum, the system accelerates until it destabilizes and crashes of its own accord. It is the dynamics of life and creation as well as of physics and cybernetics, of societies and economies. Growth and renewal comes from challenges. To allow for the unexpected requires curiosity and an imagination that is not afraid to travel unfamiliar territory, entering dreamscapes and mind frames, riding the ocean of emotions as the torero taunts the bull and the cowboy rides the mustang …

The more courageous the rider, and the wilder the forces he encounters, the more rewarding the experience will be, and the more horse and rider will respect one another; the more honor is bestowed on the bull by his sacrifice. The bull fight is all about honor and dignity. The torero wants a worthy opponent. The wilder and more dangerous the bull, the more glorious the torero’s triumph, and also the confirmation of the bull’s honor as a worthy representative of nature. Life is not about surviving at all costs, but about tackling challenges that drive us to our limits and beyond …

Life is born from conflict, not from cuddling. A worthy opponent will make me strong and drive me beyond my limits. The Dark Ages of Scientific Sanitation have alienated us from nature and rendered us incapable to tackle unexpected challenges. Anything deviating from established patterns is being perceived as a threat. Science and technology may succeed in eliminating the unexpected and replacing organic life with artificial substitutes, eventually the last traces of sentient, imaginative life forms will be destroyed by some weird spin-off of an experiment gone awry. The Aids virus is but a first indicator of more to come …

Sanitation will be the cause of our demise as it renders humankind dependent and vulnerable, incapable to deal with unexpected challenges by trying to eliminate the potential for surprises. The question, however, is not about the smartest way to guarantee the survival of humankind. If sanitation were the only option, I would rather have humankind extinguished. Life would be an insufferable orgy of boredom à go-go. I’d rather go to war and do away with us in a big flash opera of doom and destruction, if only because it is more entertaining, satisfying and imaginative, bound to drive me way beyond the limits of my skills, capacities and imagination …
