As companies explore ways to continue their support of the LGBTQIA+ community beyond Pride month, it’s important to follow the issues and stories affecting queer people. Here are five queer journalists that keep us updated on the latest happenings. Hit “follow” on their social profiles and see what their outlets are writing day-to-day.

1.) Brennan Carley

Brennan is an Associate Editor at GQ who started their LGBTQ+ vertical. He is bringing a fresh perspective to the “look sharp + live smart” men’s lifestyle outlet, and this month they launched their first-ever digital Pride cover, starring Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract.

2.) Brian Latimer

Brian is an Associate Producer at MSNBC and Correspondent for NBC Out and NBC Latino. While doing triple duty across the network, Brian covers a range of lifestyle and political news around the LGBTQIA+ community including interviewing the nurses who cared for AIDS patients when no one else would and the former Houston Mayor Annise Parker about the number of openly LGBTQ+ legislators in the country.

3.) Melissa Kravitz Hoeffner

Melissa is a freelance writer consistently bringing a queer perspective to NYC and national outlets, including amNY, Conde Nast Traveler and Mic. When not crafting articles on issues, places and events relevant to the community, she offers her personal musings on Internet happenings.

4.) R. Eric Thomas

R. Eric Thomas (yes you have to say his full name), is a Senior Staff Writer at Elle. He publishes a daily humor column, “Eric Reads the News,” that you need to subscribe to as it covers everything from politics to pop culture and celebrity shade. Be sure to check out his recent column, “How Much for that Queerness in the Window?

5.) Whembley Sewell
Whembley is an Executive Editor at them, and in Whembley’s own voice, they highlight “so many untapped [LGBTQIA+] points of view that aren’t represented in media.” With Whembley at the helm of the outlet after Philip Picardi’s departure, the editorial team continues to feature people and stories who would otherwise remain hidden and undiscovered.
