Pampa, TX

One of the best things about working for Praytell is the unlimited vacation and flexible (within reason) policies around working remotely. Using a strategic combination of both—and with the generous support of my teammates—I drove across the country this summer, from Los Angeles to New Hampshire.

It’s not LA without moody pictures of palm trees.

The Mojave Desert in California, 40 miles from the Arizona border.

There’s almost nothing in Winslow, Arizona, but I found a Cinnabon. The hotels here are weirdly expensive, which can only be explained by tourism driven by that Eagles song. Thank you, baby boomers.

Tucumcari, New Mexico boasts 1. An amazing name and 2. A mention in Rain Man. In this section of the journey, I was driving toward Cincinnati—the Rain Man road trip in reverse. (Cincinnatians only have so many movies to brag about! See also: Traffic, Carol, The Killing of a Sacred Deer… and uh, Ides of March, anyone?)

Oklahoma! (Vinita, specifically.)

Visiting my parents in Cincinnati, we went to a Trendy Downtown Restaurant. Apparently this place’s schtick is big plastic penguins, which are placed randomly around the dining area (and moved without warning by the waitstaff).

The miracle of nature in my parents’ backyard.

The miracle of the opposite of nature in THE BIG APPLE.

Bird convention in Exeter, New Hampshire; my cousin (not pictured) was graduating from high school. Not the famous high school in Exeter. We’re scrappy. Kinda.

Finally: snugly back in Tinseltown.
