As humanity, we have always found the sky fascinating since ancient times, and our curiosity towards it has survived until today without ever running out.

In the early eras, people used knowledge of the sky for the benefit of organizing and facilitating daily life. Today, we are sending vehicles to different celestial bodies and even talking about plans to settle on extraterrestrial planets such as Mars.

Before moving on to the historical events of our curiosity about the universe, let’s talk a little about what astronomy is.

Definition of Astronomy

Astronomy is the science that studies sky objects from every aspect — chemical and physical structures, movements, and so on. The word astronomy is the combination of ancient Greek words — “Astron” and “nomos”; it means ‘the law of the stars.’

By the way, it is worth remembering that astronomy shouldn’t be confused with astrology, which has no scientific basis.
