Analyzing and Responding to ‘How the AI Revolution Will Reshape the World’
Mustafa Suleyman contends AI is rebalancing socioeconomic power between social elites and the commons. In Suleyman’s own words, “We are about to see the greatest redistribution of power in history.”
I disagree. Vehemently.
I suggest AI is widening the divide between social strata and at an increasingly faster rate. If one’s perspective is grounded on the elite side of the division, naturally one will think the tech is radically changing society for the better. It is but just for you. The opposite, more or less, is true from the opposite side grounded view. However, rather than pour over historical record of failed technology democratizations (e.g., the internet), I want to use a Technology Futures approach to walk through several foresight pathways.
The goal is to provide a transparent analysis of the AI hype in general and Suleyman’s arguments in specific with the idea we can potentially use Technology Futures to bridge the divide.
