Climate Change is the most immediate and existential threat ever faced by our species. But like an overweight individual facing an imminent heart attack, our instant gratification instinct prevents us from curbing consumption, nor do we have the will to lower the risk by sequestering the carbon in our atmosphere due to the cost. And so, we continue in a downward spiral towards a planetary catastrophe that, short of being an extinction-level event, will bring civilization to its knees.

Those who contribute the least to climate change, the working class, and people in poorer countries, suffer the brunt of consequences: floods, droughts, mega-storms, mudslides, wildfires, and extreme temperatures — while those who contribute the most face none. Just 100 mega-corporations produce 71 percent of all emissions.

Government inaction due to economic interests brought us to a point where corporate responsibility and individual actions cannot stop the cataclysm. Meanwhile, those at the reins of civilization delude themselves into believing it’s not their fault, shrug their shoulders and continue business as usual.
