As an instructor of college writing and professional/technical writing, I scoffed at the idea of ChatGPT destroying the college essay and replacing human writing jobs.

I believed that no AI writing tool would ever effectively reproduce complex human thought or expression thereof, especially for novel topics, problems, or prompts.
