Dealing with the latest Facebook hack by the Chinese — Final Part
A mere thank-you note to Thames Valley Police, National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, CISA, Microsoft, Google, AWS, Twitter, Linkedin and Facebook
A couple of months ago I shared here this story:
Today my hacked Facebook account was unlocked, bringing closure to the incident: I find myself writing the story about the experience.
When I first reported the incident to a group of close friends, one of them, Jim Dewar, reverted with this: “They sure picked the wrong guy to mess with!”.
We have managed to mitigate this particular attack. However, as the actors will still be active — as mentioned in the original post, they are based in Shanghai and Novosibirsk — it makes no sense to share the mitigation details.
After all, my only motivation in dealing with this was not to punish a guy or girl already in bloody Siberia but to ensure that they would not utilize our resources against us again with this particular type of attack.
