The simulation hypothesis has certainly gained popularity in more recent times. Perhaps advances in computing and gaming have led to a new public perception of the idea. Now that we are creating our own computer simulations and have numerous people proficient in programming and computer technology the idea feels more relevant than ever. Of course, popular figures such as Elon Musk have entertained this idea very publicly and the debate is widely known within silicon valley. Couple that with popular movies like The Matrix and the question of are we in a simulation has entered the public consciousness. You can even add the movie Free Guy into the discussion. But is there any academic explorations of this idea? The answer is yes!
