Aircargoeye.com editor Thelma Etim identifies some key targets for the new year
- Capitalise on the further transparency gained from the digitalisation progress that was made in 2023, such as identifying the real percentage of wastage that has now been reduced or removed, over what time periods and in what sectors;
- Create further transparent, achievable digitalisation targets for every sector of the air cargo supply chain so they can easily be measured and recognised;
- Accelerate the push to digitalise, not only within individual commercial companies, but also for the general benefit of the industry as a whole, especially so that the progress can be independently monitored and measured;
- Augment the number of environment-friendly practices and processes within the supply chain, alongside the increased utilisation of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and with additional focus on other relationships including Customs clearances, road feeder services, airside vehicles and ground handling operations;
- Create workable solutions to tackle the ongoing recruitment problems, especially in the not-so-glamorous key roles in ground handling.
