If I were to ask you to picture in your mind what you believe aliens may look like if discovered, what would you think of? Perhaps an iconic little gray alien with a skinny body and wide head? Or maybe some other cinematic version of what these potential lifeforms could be.

Humans are awfully selective when it comes to perception. We have a lot of preconceived notions about things and often not a ton of proof to back it up. We have spent years speculating over the possible appearance of other life forms and how to search for them.

The truth is, however, do we even know what we are looking for?
