Larson (2011) argues that supply-chain management may be substantially improved if combined with sustainability and green thinking approaches, since products are improved, costs are managed more efficiently, and brands are better protected and enhanced.

Maersk, a global leader in logistics and shipping services, declares that green thinking is deeply integrated into their purpose because only when logistics services are decarbonized, democratized, integrated, and digitized, the global trade may become sustainable and inclusive, benefiting the public interest (Maersk, n.d.-a).
