Raise your hand high if you’re a fan of the video game series Halo or at least have heard of the game series before. I’ve got some exciting information for you: space elevators are less science fiction and more reality.

For those who aren’t aware of what the term stands for, a space elevator is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It’s a planet-to-space method of transportation that uses your typical pulley system, albeit a little more advanced form, to transport materials or people into space.

Now, I know after reading that you’re probably thinking I’m crazy and that it’s complete science fiction, however, the possibility of creating one has been discussed much more in the last couple of years.

Even if you are accepting it’s doable with today’s technology, you’re probably wondering what the point of building one would ever be. Wouldn’t it just be a skinny object waiting to accidentally tip over from a gust of wind?

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s just outline how it would be possible for humans today to build one of these creations.
