Before you buy an Electric Vehicle (EV), you should know how and where you’re going to charge it. It is important to know that you will be able to charge your EV from home, and it is also important to know where and how you will charge your EV when you are out in the world.

Step 1: Determine where you are going to do your charging.

The first thing you should know is that it is of course possible to charge your EV from home. You can do this with any AC outlet in your home, but it will take 8–10 hours to charge your EV. You can install a Level 2 charger in your home that will allow you to charge your EV in 4 to 6 hours. So, if you have a garage, it is perfectly reasonable to expect that you will be able to plug your EV in at night and wake up the next morning with it fully charged.

If you live in an apartment, it is possible to own and operate an EV, but it is a little bit harder. If you don’t have access to an outlet overnight at your apartment complex, then you need to know where fast chargers are in your community. There are many communities that have installed fast chargers in efforts to “Go Green”. Below is a post that discusses owning an EV while living in an apartment.
