How to write a good profile for your social networks
Whether you are a professional who wants to sell services, an aspiring influencer, or simply a person who wants to take care of your image in front of friends or family
Here I bring you a series of tips that I have learned based on the review of many, many profiles of professionals and influencers of high level that you should not miss!
Don’t be arrogant!
If you are an expert your facts will speak for themselves.
Instead of saying “Video Game Expert” you could say “Video Game Lover”, “Passionate about video games”. Or even scale the phrase up to “Hardcore gamer of action video games”.
Conclusion: It doesn’t matter how you put it, but the goal is to say what you like or what you do without coming across as arrogant.
Differentiate yourself!
Earlier I gave the example of “Passionate about video games”. What happens if you do a Google search for this phrase? I’m telling you, there are many like you using the same slogan.
Be creative, don’t be afraid, you can always edit your profile again, can’t you 😉.
Conclusion: Don’t devalue your profile with the typical.
Your VC matters little
Here there is a nuance and it is the social networks dedicated to professionals or businesses such as Linkedin (let’s not get confused) although it is true that facts are worth much more than titles in my opinion.
Imagine, you have in front of you a profile of a data science professional. He has studied Software Engineering at a University, then a Master’s degree in data analysis, and later a Ph.D. in data science. On the other hand, you have never won a challenge of great global relevance.
Now we have your profile, you have no degree and yet you have won two machine learning challenges twice.
There you have your VC. Don’t hide it and highlight it. Surely in a data science job, you will be equal to the previous candidate, at least you will have many possibilities and maybe if it is a practical level job you will have a slight advantage or even an absolute advantage!
Conclusion: Your achievements can count as much or more than the studies themselves.
Hashtags are OK, but not too much, and always at the end
Haven’t you noticed how tiring it is to see a hashtag in a profile description every two words? Well, the same thing happens if someone sees your profile in that situation. Most likely they will quickly jump to another site.
My advice is if you put one at the end of everything and only if it has a clear purpose and is not going to be a mere filler.
Conclusion: Let’s avoid unnecessary headaches.
That’s all, I hope I have given you an alternative point of view and I hope it adds value to you!
