A recent interview with the CEO Antti Saarnio confirmed the rumours about a new type of device, which will be AI based but with a focus on privacy and security.

A recent Tech Crunch interview that took place during MWC 2024 revealed several information on a mysterious new device that the Finnish startup Jolla has been cooking for some time.

It would be an AI powered devices, perfectly in line with the new wave of services and devices with generative and interactive capabilities based on artificial intelligence languages.

Quoting below:

Jolla, (…) is building what’s being tentatively described at this early product design stage as a private and secure “blackbox for your life”.

The device is intended as a private-cloud-cum-AI-router that makes the user’s data accessible for running AI queries. So this device-in-the-making is akin to the personal server concept that’s been kicking around in privacy circles for years — but reconfigured for the generative AI age.
