Life a year from now (May 2021)

Post covid life is a question for many of us? The real question is, ‘will life go back to normal pre-covid?’

This may be the reality truth…

To be honest a lot of us want life to go back to the way it was but to speak the truth it may never happen. The ‘new normal’ for life ahead may not be the way you want it.

Out in Public with Family/Friends

Spending time with family or friends is fun but if you may have to watch your every move and step while doing that it may not be fun. You may be required to keep a distance from others and ensure that you are safe.

At the Shops

Grocery shopping or leisure shopping, you may be required a temperature check at the entrance and you may be required to use hand sanitiser before entering. There may be a limit on the number of customers who are allowed inside at once. It might be recommended that you try and use tap & go instead of cash payments. There still may be shield guards at the checkouts.

Using Public Transport

Trains, buses, ferries etc may not be able to run at full capacity for example at peak hours public transport might not be able to sit and stand many as it used to where people will be pushing and shoving each other to be able to fit inside. There may be limits on how many people can sit or stand.

At Work

You may require temperature checks at the door, with a sanitiser station with hand sanitiser etc. There may be shields between work desks. Sharing food with others in the workplace may be a thing of the past, because of contamination fears.

Travelling (domestic road trips, international/domestic flights, cruises etc)

Travelling anywhere may not be as fun anymore. Depending on each country you may be required a temperate check and a dollop of hand sanitiser before you are allowed to board a flight or cruise. They may not be able to run at full capacity. You may need to self isolate yourself for a couple of days or so upon returning back.

Airbnb’s, Hotels/Motels (Any type of accommodation while travelling)

You may be required temperature checks upon entering. Other things such as bringing your own towels, bed necessities (bed sheets, pillowcases etc) so that they are not shared around.

Events/Functions

Events/functions may not be as fun anymore, there might be a limit on the number of people allowed depending on the venue itself. There may be a temperature check.

Restaurants

Some restaurants may need to adapt to the new normal and change a few things especially those who serve buffet type meals. Apart from a temperature check seats and tables may be spread out a little further away from each other than it used to be, meaning it will be running at less than the pre covid full capacity rate. Buffet type restaurants, for example RSL’s, may not be able to continue because of scares of contamination. You may be asked to tap & go instead of cash payments.

Lifts

There may be gloves or any other type of sanitary method to ensure that the lift buttons are clean. So for example using gloves to press the buttons and then throwing them away.

This may not be the life you wanted to go back to but it may be the new normal for a few years at least. There are many other things that can change but this list is enough just as it is.
