Nearly half of all Israeli Jews are descended from immigrants from Europe, Arab countries, Iran, Turkey, Central Asia, and Ethiopia.
Except, they are not immigrants; instead they are colonisers. Modern day Israel has its origin in the unilateral partitioning of Palestine, the expropriation of Palestinian land and property and the (ongoing) violent colonisation of Palestine. In the immediate period after the creation of the state of Israel, the Israeli army and militias violently expelled between 750,000 and 1,000,000 Palestinians from their homeland and left them refugees — approximately 75% of all Palestinians.
By the end of this first wave of displacement, Israel had seized 78% of Palestine. The remaining 22%, consisting of the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza, were administered by Jordan and Egypt, respectively. In the 1967 War, the Israeli military occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Gaza, which Israel began colonising shortly afterwards.
The events of Oct 7 2023, were an excuse seized upon by Israel to dramatically accelerate and complete the violent colonisation of Palestine.
