One-sided Love Story?
India’s Love for Israel
Since Hama’s brutal attack against innocent civilians in Israel, the entire region has been put on its toes. Within hours after the attack, Israel announced war against Palestine. In the last month, Israel has launched a brutal war against unprotected civilians killing women, children, and men. The international society has strongly condemned the attacks on civilians, whereas thousands of protestors have demanded a ceasefire in Palestine. However, the Indian government and people have reacted otherwise and they have campaigned for the destruction of not only Hamas but of entire Palestine.
Some analysts believe that such a reaction from India is because of the security threats they are facing from terrorists. However, I believe that the Indian support for Israel is rooted in deep hatred towards Muslims. The Hindu-Muslim tension is well known to the world, which has deep historical roots. Since the rise of BJP’s ultra-nationalist government in India, hate crimes have increased significantly against Muslims. The systematic brainwashing in India has done great damage to its secular posture, which is clearly visible in war-mongering against innocent Palestinians.
Terrorism is a worldwide threat, which has greatly affected some countries including European countries. However fear of terrorism does not allow any state to wage war against innocent civilians and bomb hospitals and refugee camps. Any state that supports Israel on mass mass killings of women and children will be remembered in history. These dark times will end, but the Palestinians' next generations will know who stood with them and who stood against them when Israel was dropping bombs on their schools, hospitals, and camps.
