Most of us think of penguins as living In Antarctica and in the north pole. But neither of these are completely true.

Penguins spend 80% of their time in water and only go on land to mate. Penguins survive on fish that they catch in the ocean.

The problem with the North pole is that its smack dab in the middle of a giant iceberg. There is no water in the north pole for them to hunt because the ice is so thick. Even if there was a hole in the ice, how would the penguin get back up if they can't find the hole they went down in.

It is practically suicide for penguins to go to the north pole because they will die from starvation.

That is why there are no penguins in the north pole, they will always stay where there is easy access to water.

Another myth is that all penguins live in Antarctica, but not all do. Penguins can live anywhere in the southern hemisphere. A specific species called the Galapagos penguins actually live in the tropics.
